Last week my daughter ordered a whole load of stuff online.
She said she had a need for some retail therapy.
I suggested that it would be cheaper to browse, then delete.
However, the receiving of the parcel was apparently one of the more important elements of the process.
Â
I don’t know when I last received a letter, one which was written by a friend, one which did not require me to phone this number, pay these people or just provided some info I was not really interested in.
Â
I used to write thank you letters every Christmas, send birthday invites through the post, receive magazines and photographs.
Â
They say you don’t miss stuff until its gone, and it’s true. I feel that a letter through the post means so much more than an email, even if only because of the novelty value. I still have a stack of ones I received when at Uni!
Â
Also addressing letters is a skill which is dying off. My eldest didn’t know how to do it, and though at the time I felt like a failure, it was not surprising that this skill had not been passed on, as I hadn’t sent a letter in years.
Â
So today, take the time, write a letter, and send it.
Send it to yourself if you like.
Hopefully you will help stimulate a smile in the one who receives it.
