Last week there was a late frost.
My eldest made the most of the opportunity by making a snowman, something she last did almost 18 years ago.
I enjoyed the brisk and refreshing walk I had in the morning with the dogs, was fascinated by the frosted edges to the grass and leaves and captivated by the sparking effect caused as the sunlight caught it.
However, over the weekend we reviewed some of the damage caused by the chill. Lots of new growth withered away, once green shoots blackened and dying. Some of the plants may never recover.
Prevention is usually better than cure but sometimes we are caught by surprise.
So next time you managed to weather the storm, remember that not everyone will have. Some may need time and tender loving care before they bounce back to their former glory.
I hope the frost didn’t stunt too much of your growth!
