Words have power

As we get ever closer to Christmas, please remember that your words have power.

I have received no Christmas Cards yet this year. Then again I have sent non either. With so many other ways to connect with loved ones, wherever they may be, I am happy to save the trees.

I do like to receive good will messages and updates from those who I have not manged to connect with as frequently as maybe I should.

But this post comes with a warning.

The other day when I was on the bus, I couldn’t help but notice the message on the child’s phone in front of me.

‘You better be at school today, I don’t have time for your shit’

It appeared to be a comment, from a potentially much longer conversation with one of their parents.

The comment itself, is one I may myself have thought and possibly even voiced on occasions, when things were more than I could cope with. But I would never have written it down.

Once written it sits there.

A moment of shared frustration on your part become a more permanent memory in your child’s mind.

There is no benefit to a child of having such memories to reflect on.

So my message today is to be mindful of your online persona, especially where your child is concerned.
