Random acts of kindness

I have been impressed recently to see and hear a number of acts of random kindness and old fashioned chivalry.

We hear too much about inept, power hungry and trigger happy world leaders so let me offset these with some stories of common people being the best they can be.

• Thank you to the high school boy who went to offer his seat on the bus to a fellow traveller.

• Thank you to the tanker driver who flashed their lights letting me know that I could cross the road safely.

• Thank you to the person who paid the fare for the man on crutches who couldn’t find his change.

• Thank you to those people who hold open those doors a few seconds longer than they need to, to save the next person the hassle.

• Thanks to the slightly tipsy night club goer who retrieved and returned my daughter’s phone from a place it shouldn’t have been!

• Thank you to all those people who return their shopping trolleys to their rightful place.
